Yankees have Among the League’s Best Bullpens
With the addition of Aroldis Chapman, the New York Yankees should have one of MLB’s best bullpens. Andrew Miller and Dellin Betances were a potent combination, but the addition of Aroldis Chapman will be lethal.
Ranking 15th overall in MLB bullpen Era, the Yankees should expect marked improvement in the coming season.
With three all-star caliber relievers, it will be interesting to watch exactly how Joe Girardi intends to utilize what is now one of the teams biggest strengths. It’s certainly a great situation to be in, for any manager. There doesn’t need to be a clear cut closer. Each of the team’s three-headed monster can handle the load. Likewise, no one player will have to pitch more frequently than is optimal.
A Force to be Reckoned With
The addition of Chapman should hep bolster the Yankee pitching staff in a number of ways. Dellin Betances won’t be relied upon quite so heavily moving forward, and the starting staff won’t have to pitch as deep into games. With a starting rotation that’s faced a lot of adversity it’s a tremendous asset to have yet another shutdown reliever.
