Zane Carney El Rey Theatre: Concert Review And Photos
On January 26th 2017, Zane Carney performed a headlining show to a crowd of 800 excited fans at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, California. Before the show, Zane met with some lucky VIP fans who were treated to a special acoustic performance, one-on-one photos, and special merchandise.
Onstage that night, Zane was joined by siblings Reeve Carney, formerly of the band CARNEY, on rhythm guitar and Paris Carney on backup vocals. The Carney family along with drummer Jon Epcar, guitarist Sergio Ruelas, and bassist Aiden Moore put on an unforgettable two hour set that left the crowd feeling inspired and awestruck.
Zane played a compilation of music he has worked on over the past few years, new songs which can be found on his upcoming album that will be out later this year, and multiple one of a kind covers such as the crowd favorite “Helter Skelter” by The Beatles.
It wouldn’t be a Zane Carney show without revolutionary, epic guitar solos! Zane showed off his well crafted skills throughout the night and even surprised the audience with a special treat, a behind-the-head guitar solo as a “thank you” for hitting 30,000 Instagram followers during the set. (Check out a clip of the solo HERE) Although he admitted that he had never tried playing that way before, it turned out so perfectly that even the likes of Hendrix, Van Halen, and Page would be proud to hear it.
After the night came to a close, I was able to speak with a few fans about some of their favorite moments of the evening. Multiple fans listed their favorites as “I Wanna Have Faith Again” and “Something In The Water.” My personal favorite is “Doctor, Doctor.” The depth of the lyrics is what first struck me, followed by the rock anthem feel that makes you want to sing along loudly.
In a world where there are so many troubling things going on daily basis, it’s a wonderful feeling to step inside a beautiful venue, forget about what’s going on outside those doors for a while, and to enjoy the music and unity a concert provides. This show was a perfect example of why music matters now more than ever. When music makes you think, listen, feel, and be inspired all at once, it’s a special moment which makes for a truly wonderful show.
If you’re looking to experience a Zane Carney concert, keep an eye on his Instagram and Twitter as well as his website www.zanecarney.com for upcoming gigs. New York residents should keep an extra close eye and ear out for a Valentine’s holiday show announcement coming very soon!
